In the eyes of the Ukrainian refugees, all volunteers are heroes. They ensure that, despite everything, life is more bearable. Whether it’s setting up the shelter (in this case, Avondvrede), translating, beauty treatments, or raising money. All help was accepted with gratitude. In this project, it is impossible to give voice to all volunteers. The artists have made a selection based on diversity and/or a personal connection with these volunteers. With these portraits, they aim to spotlight ALL volunteers and underscore their value. The final portrait is an empty chair, symbolizing all (new) volunteers.
